Meet the Director
Mr. Silva earned his Bachelors of Music Education and Clarinet performance from California State University, Long Beach. Previously, he taught band, orchestra, jazz, and parade band classes in Irvine, California. Mr. Silva strives to make a difference in the lives of young students in his classroom through the power of music-making.
Mr. Silva originated from the Palm Springs area and after high school studied music at the Bob Cole Conservatory of music. He previously coached high school and middle school students in the Long Beach and Huntington Beach areas. During Mr. Silva's undergrad program, he performed with the CSULB Wind Symphony, under the direction of Mr. John Carnahan, which performed in Colorado, Seattle, and in New York at Carnegie Hall. He also performed with the Bob Cole Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Johannes Müller-Stosch. This is Mr. Silva's fifth year teaching at Granada Middle School. Mr. Silva has received the honor of being nominated as Granada Middle School's Teacher of the Year this year. Teaching band and orchestra is such a joy for him! |
